Will PSE help me get an internship or full-time position?
Absolutely! Every event and social activity that Epsilon Theta holds has opportunities to network with business professionals from all over the country. Facilitated by our Vice President of Professional Development, our chapter hosts various company speakers at our general member meetings throughout the semester. These companies offer different internship and job opportunities with Epsilon Theta priority in mind. In fact, in the spring of 2016 our graduating seniors had a 98% placement rate-- meaning all but 2% had a job lined up prior to graduation.
Not only can we help individuals within our chapter, the regional and national conventions also host excellent career fairs and networking opportunities. We cannot stress enough how focused our organization is at giving your that extra foot in the door.
I'm already an upperclassmen, why do I want to get involved now?
Many members join as upperclassmen. We believe that despite your year in school we have plenty to offer you. Through projects and events we can equip you with the skills necessary to obtain a full-time position. Some of our most influential members joined as juniors or seniors and we look forward to helping others build the skills to succeed post graduation.
Does it take up a lot of my time?
Just like any other organization you get out what you put in. If you want to get ahead of other students by getting real world experience, joining PSE is the best thing you can do for your future. This being said, your time commitment is truly up to you. We require our members to attend our weekly general member meetings on Wednesday at 8pm. In addition to this, we expect all of our members to go above and beyond in their respective projects or assistant/executive positions. We encourage everyone to work hard and carry the weight when it is necessary. Usually our members are always wanting to stay as involved as possible.
How much does it cost?
Pi Sigma Epsilon is worth every penny! As a new member you will pay $125. This is a one time initiation fee of $50 plus an annual fee of $75. After a member has been in the chapter for a year, the member will pay a renewal fee ($75) for every year they are apart of the chapter. These costs go straight to the national headquarters to help fund their necessary expenses.
Our Vice President of Finance is also incredibly flexible to help you create a payment plan that works best for you. We do not want the price of PSE to deter members from following through with joining. Through scholarships, funding opportunities, and the help of other chapter members it is a small price to pay for several year round benefits.
